Today's health care practitioners encourage you to be an active participant in decisions that affect your health. Fortunately, there are many good web sites on the Internet, such as the ones below, which offer information on many behavioral health issues. However, remember that the information on the Internet is not tailored to your particular clinical needs and that it is important to discuss health matters directly with your healthcare professional.

New Hampshire Resources
The Family Resource Connection is a special program of the New Hampshire State Library providing information for NH families. You can find local resources, a lending library and links to online resources for behavioral; health and a variety of other family related issues.
NH Hospital Association provides links to local hospital web sites.
NAMI New Hampshire is a statewide grassroots organization that provides information, education and support to families and consumers of mental health services.

MEDLINEplus - Behavioral health information from the National Institute of Health
The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) provides information about the symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illnesses. Included are brochures and information sheets, reports, press releases, fact sheets, and other educational materials.
In addition, NIMH provides information on Men and Depression. In America alone, over 6 million men have depression each year. If you would like more information about this program please click on the link above to find out more about this issue and to hear real stories from men discussing their battles with this illness, how they got help and how they got better.
National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) is a support, education, advocacy, and research, organization providing a wide variety of resources and links to local chapters.
National Behavioral Healthcare Organizations
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance educates patients, families, professionals and the public concerning the nature of depressive and manic-depressive illnesses as treatable medical diseases and fosters self-help for patients and their families.
Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), is a national non-profit organization providing education, advocacy and support for individuals with ADHD.
The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry site offers information on child and adolescent psychiatry, fact sheets for parents and caregivers, current research, and practice guidelines.
The National Center for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) web site is designed as an educational source about PTSD and trauma.
The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) is a national, non-profit membership organization providing information about Anxiety disorders.
SAMHSA is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services focused on improving the quality and availability of prevention, treatment, and rehabilitative services for substance abuse and mental illnesses.
